How to Weigh Yourself Correctly for Accurate Data
If your weigh-ins are all over the place, the problem might be how you weigh, not your body. Consistency is everything.
Consistency beats precision
The exact number matters less than measuring the same way each time. Consistent conditions make your trend meaningful.
The best time to weigh
First thing in the morning, after you've used the bathroom and before you eat or drink, wearing little or nothing. That's when your weight is most stable and comparable day to day.
A simple checklist
- Same time each day (morning is best).
- After the bathroom, before food or drink.
- Same scale, on a hard, flat floor.
- Similar clothing — or none.
Then ignore the single number
Even with perfect technique, one reading is noisy. Log it and watch the trend.
